AES Mong Duong Pickleball Tournament 2025
On 27 September 2017, AES Mong Duong Power Co. Ltd. in cooperation with the Center for Education Development (CED) presented AES Mong Duong Energy Career Scholarship to 20 outstanding students from Quang Ninh majoring in power and energy at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) and Electric Power University (EPU).
The AES Mong Duong Energy Career Scholarship is one of the Company’s initiatives to invest in education, training and preparing a high-tech workforce for Quang Ninh in particular and Vietnam energy sector in general. The Company have launched this initiative in July 2017. Since then, AES Mong Duong and CED have worked closely with both universities to notify the qualified students to apply for the scholarship. By the end of August, there were 30 students from HUST and 10 students from EPU turned in their application and interviewed. The scholarship recipients were selected based on not only their studying result but also their passion for energy field, their personality and their commitment to the program.
Besides the US$ 600 financial support, each student will get benefit from participating in soft skill and English trainings, volunteer activities, community support and field visit to Mong Duong 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant.
Addressing at the Ceremony, Mr. David Stone emphasized that developing high-tech manpower from local workforce was one objective of sustainable development goal that AES and partners pursuing.He also hoped that this scholarshipshall add fuel for them towork harder at school and further improve personal development to become the owner of Vietnam energy future.
The contribution of AES Mong Duong to education is highly appreciated and recognized by both universities.
Le Trung Son, a senior thermoelectric major, Department of Energy Technology, EPU, shared in his letter to the Company “I have a passion for electrical energy since high school and it has grown up with me since then. When I learnt that Mong Duong 2 thermal power plant with modern technology was developed right in my home town of Quang Ninh, I dream of working as an engineer at the Power Plant. I am very happy and proud receiving this AES Mong Duong Energy Career Scholarship from AES Mong Duong Power Co. Ltd. This scholarship means a lot to me not only because of the financial support but also the soft-skillsto equip me for the future career readiness. This support would surely be an engine to advance my dream career.”
The Ceremony then followed by a sharing session by Mr. Nguyen Duy Quang, I&C Engineer of Mong Duong 2 BOT thermal power plant, who was also the HUST alumni. Mr. Quang had a very meaningful session to share with the student his experience throughout his career and gave them many fruitful advices.
The program closed up by a training session to improve the students soft-skill with topic “How to determine your target” led by Human Resource Training and Development Club. The students had chance to discuss and determine their short-term, mid-term and long-term goals and necessary steps/actions to achieve the set target.
It was a successful event which attracted close to 40 reporters. The news regarding the event had been widely reported on many reputable newspapers right after the event.
