AES Mong Duong Power Company Ltd recognised at Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards

06/03/2019AES Mong Duong News, News

Singapore, 6 March: AES Mong Duong Power Company Ltd was honoured as a finalist of Best Stakeholders Reporting at the 4th Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards (ASRA) concluded in Singapore this evening. ASRA is the highest recognition for corporate reporting in the region.

Nearly one hundred senior business leaders from 15 countries turned up at the exclusive awards ceremony hosted by the British High Commissioner in Singapore H.E. Scott Wightman. The event was attended by dignitaries from diverse fields including academia, non-profit, embassies, trade associations and advocacy organisations.

The awards were presented by the Guest of Honour Jessica Cheam, managing editor of Eco-Business, The British High Commissioner H.E. Scott Wightman and special guests Dr Lawrence Loh, director of Corporate Governance, Institutions and Organisations at NUS Business School and Dr Wu Huijuan, Assistant Director, Singapore Institute of International Affairs.

An independent judging panel decides the awards following rigorous criteria. The judges sifted through nearly 400 entries received from 16 countries for 17 award categories to select the finalists. The judging process involved multiple rounds of screening and evaluations to identify the very best in each award category. Finally, comprehensive due diligence was carried out to assess finalists’ reputation among stakeholders, and the findings were considered to determine the winners.

Rajesh Chhabara, managing director at CSRWorks International and the creator of the Awards, said: “Sustainability reporting has become an important tool for investors and stakeholders to assess a company’s full value. High quality reporting and disclosure allows organisations to communicate how they manage their economic, environmental, social and governance impacts, risks and opportunities to create value in the short, medium and long term. AES Mong Duong Power Company Ltd’s report demonstrates the company’s leadership in sustainability reporting and a deep sense of commitment to transparency, disclosure and value creation.”

In recent years, almost all major stock exchanges in the region have introduced regulations that require the listed companies to publish annual sustainability reports to meet investors’ demand.

“ASRA is helping organisations to raise the bar in reporting and improving the quality of sustainability information for stakeholders,” Mr Chhabara added.

CSRWorks International, a Singapore-based firm focussed on sustainability consulting, training and thought leadership, has created the non-profit Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards to inspire Asian organisations to adopt sustainability reporting and integrated reporting.

All finalists received a merit certificate printed on FSC certified paper sourced from sustainable forests. Also, the finalists will be authorised to use the designated Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards logo for branding purpose.
