Responding to the program of “Connecting the helping hands for the disabilities and orphans in 2019” organized by Quang Ninh Association for Supporting the Disabilities and Orphans (ASDO), AES Mong Duong donated 23 sets of desk and chair to establish learning corners and 9 bicycles to the orphans in Quang Ninh with total value of VND42.5 million.
On 17 April 2019, Mr. Kevin Pierce, AES Mong Duong’s Plant Manager, handed over the donated items to the program organizer in a live-broadcasted event co-organized by the ASDO and Quang Ninh Communication Center in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province.
Quang Ninh maintained its position as one of the top economic growth provinces in Vietnam over the last few years. In 2018, the provincial economic growth reached 11.1%, rankedfirst place in the country with per capita income of USD5,110.
Along with the economic growth, Quang Ninh province takes good care of the social welfares with many effective programs implemented in 2018 like “sustainable poverty reduction”, “new rural program” and pays special attention to unfortunate people with disabilities and the orphans whose livings are in special difficulties and lack of basic conditions like housing, studying or medical care.
The “Connecting the helping hands for the disabilities and orphans” donation event was participated by Ms. Vu Thi Thu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of Quang Ninh People Committee, Mr. Luong Phan Cu, Chairman of Vietnam Association for Supporting the Disabilities and Orphans, leaders from provincial departments, districts, cities, enterprises and benefactors from inside and outside of the province.
AES Mong Duong was among over 300 donors providing supports to 19,200 disabilities and 21,000 handicapped children andorphans in the province via this program. Total amount received after the program was more than VND7.1 billion.
In addition to the supports to Quang Ninh children, this year, AES Mong Duong has also been implementing several projects focusing on sustainable income improvement for local communities and upgrade of local education and health care system in Cam Pha city where the Power Plant is located.
In another content of this event, Pham Xuan Tung, an AES’s operator was recognized as one of the provincial outstanding employees by Quang Ninh Labor Federation for his outstanding performance in 2018 and contribution to the Power Plant operation improvement by optimizing operation of cooling water system based on ambient temperature which won first prize of the Company’s APEX competition.
