On 23 June 2020, Mr. David Stone, CEO of AES Mong Duong, was elected member of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) for the 2020-2023 term. The council, which is chaired by Dr. Vu Tien Loc, Chairman of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), has a mission to promote the best sustainable practices among the business communities in Vietnam.
The election took place at the VBCSD General Assembly IV, which reported on the outcomes of the last term and defined the strategy and activities for the 2020-2023 term. Specific targets of the new term include supporting enterprises in implementing the circular economy model; supporting public-private partnership models for sustainable development; and developing policy recommendations to support sustainable businesses.

In the last three years, AES Mong Duong has been an active member of VBCSD and participated in the council’s various initiatives. The company has for three consecutive years received the Top 100 Most Sustainable Business in Vietnam Award by the council. The award also acknowledged AES Mong Duong’s sustainable business operation, its strong environmental performance and meaningful CSR program. With a total value of more than US$600,000, the company’s 130 CSR initiatives since 2012 have contributed to improving the quality of life of more than 200,000 people in neighboring communities in Cam Pha city, Quang Ninh Province.
