On August 16, 2022, AES Mong Duong donated 30 bicycles and 30 helmets, worth a total of more than VND80 million, to disabled children and orphans in Cam Pha City, Quang Ninh Province.
Attending the ceremony to hand over the bicycles were representatives from the People’s Committee of Cam Pha City, the Association for the Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans in Quang Ninh Province, representatives of AES Mong Duong, as well as students and their families.
The event aimed to encourage and support children with disabilities and orphans at the start of the new school year, and help to increase school attendance in Cam Pha City and Tien Yen District.
“We believe that via this program, children with disabilities can improve their physical health and develop greater confidence in going to school. We also hope that this important initiative will continue to help more local disabled and orphaned kids in the years to come,” said Johnny Tanis, Plant Manager of AES Mong Duong.
“In Cam Pha City, there are many children with disabilities and orphans who were born into poor families, but they are always striving to get an education, and these bicycles help encourage them in their efforts. This support program from AES Mong Duong has been implemented over the last three years. I would like to thank AES Mong Duong for their support and hope to continue our partnership in the future,” said Mr. Ha Van Hien, president of Cam Pha City Red Cross Association and the President of Cam Pha City Sponsoring Association for People with Disabilities and Orphans.
The donation is part of AES Mong Duong’s CSR program. Since 2012, over 130 CSR initiatives, with a total value of more than VND12 billion, have been implemented, focusing on four main pillars – Health, Education, Livelihoods and Infrastructure. The activities have made a lasting difference and contributed to improving the quality of life of more than 200,000 people in communities around Cam Pha City, Quang Ninh Province.
