Tet Celebrations: AES Vietnam Supports Disadvantaged Communities in Quang Ninh and Binh Thuan Province

Panama, 12January 2017 –AES Performance Excellence (APEX) Global Competition was held in Panama.
Since 2006, AES people have executed projects using APEX tools and methodologies that deliver significant revenue, savings and efficiencies. Over the last decade alone, APEX projects have deliveredover $1B in benefits. Not only do these projects provide financial benefits, they also provide a development opportunity for our people to grow within AES while achieving operational excellence.
This year, with their endless effort, AES Mong Duong team has won first place in Regional Competition to advance to Global Competition. The team consist of Bui Van The, To Thai Hung, Pham Nguyen, Dang Huyen Trang, Tran Huy Hung, Ngo Minh Toan, Nguyen Van Quang and led by team leader, Stan Riner. The Innovation was “Optimization of Furnace Sootblower System” which fall under $2M-$10M Category. The project finally received second place in the Global Competition.
During the preparation process, the team have received full support from leadership as well as other departments. Mr. Marty Crotty,President of Asia Strategic Business Unit (SBU) of AES Corporation, also congratulated the team for this achievement “while the recognition validates the team’s hard work, I also want to emphasize the spirit of innovation that is at work here and I want to encourage everyone to keep it up. These initiatives not only promote better learning among the teams but also bring out our shared strength in always finding ways to better ourselves and how we operate, taking into consideration the three-year old Mong Duong II Power Plant.”
