In December 2021, AES Mong Duong completed the renovation of electrical systems for 52 households in disadvantaged conditions in Cong Hoa Commune, Cam Pha City. The initiative is a part of the company’s Electrical Safety project which has been deployed over the past three years. Now in its third year, the project continues to improve safety conditions and the living standards of our local communities through repairing and upgrading electrical systems for low-income households.
“We are glad that this year, communities in Cong Hoa benefit from AES’ Electrical Safety project. Electrical safety is an important issue, but many people still have limited understanding about safe electrical use and potential risks. We would like to thank AES for its continuing commitment to improving lives and livelihoods in local communities via this meaningful project,” said Mr. Diep Van Nguyen, Vice Chairman, Cong Hoa People’s Committee.
The activity started in October 2021, first with a site survey and consultation with the local People’s Committee of Cong Hoa Commune. This was followed by thorough inspections and assessment by AES technicians at households nominated by the local authorities. After getting approval from AES, the implementation was initiated in early December. All substandard sockets, wiring, light bulbs, or appliances were replaced or upgraded to ensure safety for homeowners and users. The whole process has been closely monitored by AES technicians and complied with all AES safety standards and guidelines.
Mr. David Stone, President of AES Vietnam and CEO of AES Mong Duong, said, “Safety comes first at AES, and we work to make this value a reality through our social impact programs to ensure the health and safety of not only our employees and operations, but also the local communities in which we operate. I am glad to see that for the third year, our Electrical Safety project has continued to accelerate our goal of building trust with the local community, making a difference and contributing to socio-economic development in the areas in which we operate.”
In 2019 and 2020, the Electrical Safety project focused on households in Cam Hai Commune, Cam Pha City, Quang Ninh Province. The electrical systems of 99 low-income households and nine public facilities, including schools, community houses and local clinics, were repaired and renovated. In addition, local people and students were also provided with training on electrical safety, which will prove vital in ensuring the safe use of electricity in homes and public facilities in the area.
With a total budget of roughly VND1.2 billion over three years, AES Mong Duong’s Electrical Safety project has benefited up to 20,000 people living in local communities in Mong Duong Ward, Cam Hai Commune and Cong Hoa Commune, Cam Pha City, Quang Ninh Province.
