Quang Ninh, 18 May 2016 – AES Mong Duong Power Company Limited (AES Mong Duong) official celebration of 2016Safety Day was organized with this year theme of “Be a HERO”. In AES, we believe that “You don’t need to be a super hero to save a life. All you needis to PUT SAFETY FIRST in everything you do”.
In the spirit of the 2016 Safety day, the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Department has organized AED, CPR, firefighting and electrical insulated training for all employee of AES Mong Duong.
On implementation of Emergency Response Plan of 2016, the Chemical Spill Response Drill was conducted to improve the skills and availability of response team during the week of Safety Day Celebration. The Drill was totally managed and performed by the Operation with scenarios of chemical spill in RO building. After the drill, a summary meeting was held to obtain the lesson learnt.
Two weeks prior to the official celebration day, EHS also raised the I DO IT RIGHT Competition. The competition aims to strengthen the awareness, refresh and reinforce the knowledge and improve the skills on our Safety Beliefs and Permit to Work (PTW) procedure. The 10 team players will come from Operation, Maintenance and Engineering with 3 members in each team and compete in preliminary selection round to obtain the classification to the Final Round on May 18th evening. This is an opportunity for each member to convey, exchange their knowledge and show their commitment to Safety and inspire others on being Always On for Safety and Environment.
After the competitive preliminary round, the judge board had successfully selected the finalists consist of 4 teams: Operation Group C, Operation Group E, Electrical Maintenance and Engineering. After almost 2 hours performing 2 rounds of the Competition, 4 teams did really create the difficulties to the Judging team and the final result was announced as below:
- 1st Place: Operation Group E
- 2nd Place: Electrical Maintenance
- 3rd Place: Engineering Team and Operation Group C
With an outstanding performance of Electrical Maintenance team on the scenarios of PM job of 500 Kv line, they had obtained maximum score (70 points) from the judging team. And after further discussion, the judgers would like to give the Electrical Maintenance Team an extra recognition as Best roleplay performance with a Dinner Voucher.
As the result of all our safety effort for 2015, AES Mong Duong have successfully passed a challenging year with significant achievement of safety as over 3M man-hours without LTI was obtained. To recognize and honor the efforts of employees and Contractors on their performance and to follow the Safety Recognition and Promotion Procedure, assessment criteria with Key Performance Indicators focusing the proactive, reactive and initiatives was created to assess and select the group as best safety performers of 2015. Based on the result, Power Block 2 team was honored as SAFETY EXCELLENCE OF THE YEAR 2015 and Contractor Lilama 69.3 was recognized as CONTRACTOR SAFFETY TEAM OF THE YEAR 2015.
