AES Vietnam President Meets with EVN Leadership to Advance Strategic Energy Projects
Hanoi, Vietnam (March 10, 2025) – AES Vietnam is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Olivier Marquette as its new President. Olivier, who has had a distinguished career in the energy sector, brings to Vietnam a wealth of global experience and a strong track record of success. He joined the AES Corporation in 2006 and has contributed to various projects in advanced leadership roles for AES in Asia, Central and South America, the Middle East and Europe.
Olivier succeeds Mr. Joseph Uddo, who has made significant contributions to AES Vietnam during his tenure from 2022 to 2025. Mr. Joseph Uddo will continue his tenure at AES as Vice President, Head of Global Policy in the United States.
Expressing his excitement about the new role, Olivier stated, “I am delighted to join AES Vietnam and am eager to work alongside our partners, stakeholders and AES Vietnam’s dedicated team to accelerate the future of energy. Together, we will continue to innovate and provide reliable, affordable energy to support Vietnam’s growing energy needs.”
AES has been investing in Vietnam for over 15 years through the 1,242 MW Mong Duong 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant Project, with a total investment of approximately $2.1 billion USD, representing approximately 1.5% of the country’s installed capacity which delivers about 2.7% of the country’s energy demands at the lowest possible cost to the grid. AES continues to support Vietnam’s growth with a focus on sustainable and reliable energy solutions through the 450 TBtu Son My LNG terminal and the 2,250 MW Son My 2 CCGT power plant projects. The construction of these 2 projects, with a total investment of over $3 billion USD, will generate more than 4,500 jobs, enhance the local economy and improve the livelihoods of the local community.
