On May 13, 2025, AES Vietnam proudly hosted its annual Safety Day at Mong Duong 2 BOT Power Plant, emphasizing the theme of “Safety First, Protect What Matters Most” with the participation of the employees and contractors.
Several key achievements and initiatives, which have been implemented over the years and are continuously being enhanced, have been highlighted that underscore the commitment to safety. Mong Duong 2 BOT Power Plant have strengthened our EHS&S (Environment, Health, Safety & Security) Integrated Management System, certified against ISO 45001, and elevated contractor safety culture. The Smart EHS Outage Plan for high-risk periods has ensured zero injuries. We have tracked KPIs to drive a proactive safety culture and prioritized health and well-being beyond compliance. Our 5S Excellence initiative has created a cleaner and more efficient site and a safer mindset. Additionally, we have extended safety practices beyond the workplace with many CSR activities to improve safety in the community.
These efforts have resulted in over 9 million safe work hours in the past 5 years and recognition from local authorities and international organizations. Our commitment to safety is integral to our purpose of accelerating the future of energy. “Every one of you is a Safety Leader, setting an example to follow AES procedures, respect everyone’s safety decisions, and use our Stop Work Authority when we see something unsafe,” Mr. Johnny Tanis, Plant Manager, AES Mong Duong emphasized.
Mr. Olivier Marquette, President, AES Vietnam, highlighted the significance of safety in achieving AES’s purpose: “Our purpose, to accelerate the future of energy, is only possible if we do it as safely as possible, for us, our people, our customers, and our communities.”
The event also included recognition of safety champions, including Mr. Hoang Van Viet, Security Team leader, who demonstrated exceptional effectiveness in security patrols, and Mr. Do Duc Hiep, Senior I&C (Instrumentation and Control) Maintenance Technician, who played a key role in ensuring safety compliance within the I&C team.
On the same day, the MD2 Thermal Power Plant also organized various activities to commemorate Safety Day 2025 with the participation of numerous employees and contractors. These activities included physical games, and a PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) challenge aimed at raising awareness, consciousness, and actions of the company’s employees and contractors in occupational safety and hygiene. These efforts promote a world-class safety culture, contributing to the goal of building an “incident-free working environment” and improving the physical and mental health of workers.
On this occasion, AES Mong Duong also proudly received the runner-up award in the AES Corporation’s Golden Hard Hat Award and the RoSPA Award for the 11th consecutive year, once again emphasizing AES Mong Duong’s efforts in safety and operations.
