AES Mong Duong is dedicated to improving lives by providing safe, affordable and sustainable energy. One of the company’s commitments given this thrust is voluntary reporting on its sustainability performance every two years. This Sustainability Report discloses information on economic, environmental and social performance according to the Global Reporting Initiative Standards (GRI Standards), the most widely used sustainability reporting framework in the world.
On the 4th week of May 2018, the Company held the kick-off meeting for the 2016-2017 Sustainability Report Project in both the Hanoi and Mong Duong offices. This Project received enthusiastic participation across departments including Operation, HR, EHS, Stakeholder Management, Commercial, Compliance, Finance, Admin, Facility, SCM with Mr. David Stone as the Project Champion, Mr. Kevin Pierce as Project Chairman and Ms. Le My Hanh as Project Co-Chair.
The Sustainability Report involves engagement with internal and external stakeholders. The Technical Working Group (TWG) members worked intensively to identify material aspects to be included in the report in order to meet all stakeholders’ expectations while fulfilling international standards.
“One of the most important benefits of the 2015 Sustainability Report is teamwork,” said Mr. Fernando Mendez, “This report is not the results of one person but highlight the collaboration across all functions of the Company. Through the project, each department gets to know the others a little more. The final product also helps each and every employee build his own pride of the Company.”
The report is expected to be published by the end of September 2018.
