Handover ceremony and Plant tour in Mong Duong 2 Thermal Power Plant

Continuing efforts to empower the local community’s future workforce, AES Vietnam, in coordination with the Center for Education and Development (CED), organized the Scholarship Award Ceremony for the AES’s Future Energy Scholarship Program for the 2024–2025 school year at Quang Ninh University of Industry.
This year’s program selected 35 5 students from six universities in the Northern and Central regions, focusing on fields related to energy. The program not only provides financial support with scholarships worth 14 million VND per student, but also offers training in soft skills, English language proficiency, business communication, and dynamic activities to enhance their capabilities. , helping them develop practical skills and professional careers in the energy sector, which is a key industry in Vietnam today.
Additionally, as part of the expanded scope of this year’s program, AES Vietnam also awarded scholarships to eight outstanding scientific research projects under the national scientific research program organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, each valued at 7 million VND per research project.
Mr. Olivier Marquette, President of AES Vietnam, stated: “We believe that investing in the knowledge and passion of young people is the best way to contribute to the sustainable development of the energy sector in Vietnam. These students will become engineers, researchers, and leaders who will drive the sustainable growth of the energy industry in the future.”

This support is significant not only financially but also as a sign of trust and cooperation. As a recipient of this honor, I promise to continue striving to build and develop our country.”
On behalf of the host organization, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Thang, Rector of Quang Ninh University of Industry, said: “We highly appreciate the efforts of AES Vietnam and the Center for Education and Development in accompanying universities in training quality human resources for the energy industry. Organizing the scholarship award ceremony at the school is not only an honor but also an opportunity for students to be inspired and expand their practical knowledge, especially through experiential activities at the factory.”
Following the ceremony, the program also included a two-day visit to the Mong Duong 2 Thermal Power Plant for the scholarship recipients, where they learned in depth about the power plant operation process. The students had the opportunity to directly interact and exchange with engineers and technical staff at the plant, helping to connect classroom theory with practical production.
Ms. To Kim Lien, Director of CED, shared: “The greatest value of the program is not only in the tuition sponsorship but also in the practical experience, soft skills, and career inspiration. Students have access to a network of experts, employers, and real-life operating models in the industry, thereby nurturing confidence and long-term career goals.”
The AES Future Energy Scholarship Program once again affirms the long-term commitment of AES Vietnam and CED in developing high-quality human resources for the energy industry, contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnam.
