On March 21st, the President of AES Vietnam Olivier Marquette participated in the Women in Business event organized by AmCham Hanoi. The event, entitled “Closing the Gender Gap & Leading by Example,” attracted the participation of about 40 leaders from various industries, and focused on strategies for women’s inclusion in the workforce, highlighting the importance of supportive policies and cultural environments. The panelists included representatives from the U.S. Embassy Hanoi, Apple, and AES Vietnam.
During the event, the President of AES Vietnam Olivier Marquette emphasized that businesses should adhere to their values especially during uncertain times and that diversity and inclusion make good business sense. The panelists discussed the impact of recent political changes on inclusion programs and diversity initiatives, stressing the importance of leadership in creating a flexible and supportive work environment.
He shared examples of promoting female leaders in the Energy industry, which has been historically male-dominated, and stressed the importance of providing opportunities for women at all levels of the organization to create a growing pyramid of support. The panelists also highlighted the need for male leaders to be effective allies in advocating for gender equality.
Mr. Olivier Marquette, President of AES Vietnam stated, “Leadership is about creating an inclusive and supportive work environment where everyone can thrive. Promoting female leaders in male-dominated industries is not just a moral imperative but it also makes good business sense”.
The event concluded with a call for continued efforts to promote gender equality and work-life balance, encouraging participants to engage in open discussions and peer-to-peer learning.
