Ha Noi, March 4, 2020 – AES Vietnam CSR initiatives was highlighted at the CSR exhibition and Gala dinner commemorating the 25th anniversary of the US – Vietnam diplomatic relations, organized by the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC), with the participation of honored guests including the Minister – Chairman of the Government Office H.E. Mai Tien Dung, and the US Ambassador to Vietnam H.E. Daniel Kritenbrink.
AES Vietnam CSR booth has well received attention at the event. It showcased the CSR achievements in 4 major areas including Health, Education, Environmental Protection and Livelihoods Restoration. Highlighted projects including scholarships and upgrading of schools’ facilities, first aid training for nearly 1000 people and vocational trainings to households in local communities.
Since 2012, AES in Vietnam through its subsidiary has invested more than 600,000 US dollars in CSR activities, improving the quality of life of more than 200,000 people in the neighboring communities in Cam Pha city – Quang Ninh Province.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Kevin Pierce, Plant Manager of the Mong Duong 2 power facility, a subsidiary of AES Vietnam in Quang Ninh also highlighted the fact that AES is developing a 2,250MW Combined Cycle power project in Binh Thuan Province. “With the new project, AES Vietnam will continue our commitment to contribute to the local communities through our CSR programs”, he said.
The CSR exhibition and Gala dinner event was a part of activities of 2020 Vietnam Business Mission which include 28 US companies from various sectors such as energy, health and life science, automobile, food and beverage. The delegation had meetings with the Prime Minister, key members of his cabinet and leaders of the State and National Assembly. This was also the first major business delegation of the New Year that engaged Government of Vietnam on Key Priorities for 2020 ASEAN Chairmanship and 25th Anniversary of US-Vietnam Relations.
