Olivier Marquette Joins Forum Celebrating 30 Years of Vietnam–U.S. Relations
On 21 October 2022, AES’ Values Day 2022 was held at the community house of village 2, Cam Hai commune, Cam Pha City, Quang Ninh Province. More than 100 people attended the program, including representatives of local authorities, residents and leaders and staff of AES Mong Duong and AES Vietnam.
At AES, our values of ‘Safety First’, ‘Highest Standards’ and ‘All Together’ are the foundation of our business worldwide and in Vietnam. They not only guide our actions, but also provide a common framework for how we interact with other people at AES, conduct business, and serve our customers and communities.
“This year’s Values Day focuses on “Empowering our people”. It is important to make our people feel valued, which is a key to cultivating a positive culture and strengthening relationships with our customers, communities, and each other. On this special occasion, I would like to say thank you to all of you in our Vietnam businesses for your commitment and dedication to this organization, helping us to build a strong foundation; your inspiring efforts in providing stable energy to the country and improving the lives of our communities in a safe manner, together, and with highest standards”, said Mr. Joseph Uddo, Managing Director of AES Mong Duong.
Another important element of the event was the Values Day Award, which recognizes an outstanding member of AES Mong Duong who has exemplified the AES Values during his/her work at AES in 2022. This year, the award was presented to Bui Viet Hung, Legal and Compliance Assistant.
“I joined AES since 2015 and a part of my job is to help our colleagues understand AES Values. Whenever I see the award given to any others, I think I have done an excellent job, helping our AES people live our Values. This year, the award is a wonderful surprise to me, I am so honored to be selected as the final winner. I could not achieve this without the encouragement and continuous support from the leadership and coworkers. I believe that together, we can transform our Values into daily life activities and positively impact every aspect we do”, said Hung.
As part of the Values Day 2022 celebrations, AES has implemented a number of activities focusing on enhancing safety knowledge and rescue skills in water for communities. A number of swimming classes were organized for 180 local students in August 2022, followed by the training on rescue skills in waterfrom 14 – 18 October with 130 participants including students, members of the Cam Hai People’s Committee and local people, and a number of AES staff, under the instruction of trainers from the University of Fire Prevention and Firefighting. Another meaningful activity during Values Day 2022 is the handover of life vests and ring buoys to 109 local households in Cam Hai commune, which account for one fifth of the commune’s population.
The aim of these activities is to enhance knowledge and guide local people the necessary skills to prevent drowning accidents and provide them with equipment and rescue methods as well as first aid skills. With these initiatives, we are proactively translating our AES Values into activities that positively impact and improve lives in local communities.
As we move forward, at AES Vietnam we are committed to working further to promote the AES Values in both our business, providing much-needed electricity to Vietnam, and in our social mandate to the local communities in which we operate.
