Olivier Marquette Joins Forum Celebrating 30 Years of Vietnam–U.S. Relations
On 26 July 2014, Vietnam President Truong Tan Sang, accompanied by Quang Ninh Communist Party Secretary Pham Minh Chinh visited the Mong Duong II BOT Power Project – the first and largest BOT coal-fired power project in Vietnam.

At the Mong Duong II BOT Power Project site, the Managing Director of the AES-VCM Mong Duong Power Company Limited, Mr. David Stone, reported to President Truong Tan Sang on the Project’s progress as well as several key milestones which have recently been completed including the synchronization of Unit 1 to the 500kV national grid and the achievement of full load on Unit 1 of 560 net MW.

During the visit, President Truong Tan Sang praised the excellent progress that has been achieved and voiced his appreciation for the company’s efforts to carry out this project safely, efficiently and with the highest quality. He highlighted the importance of the Mong Duong II BOT Power Project’s significant contribution to Vietnam’s energy sector which will enable Vietnam to meet the forecasted energy demands of a fast growing economy. He also visited directly with the entire workforce and provided appreciation gifts to top performers.
